A dog was quarantined after it bit a postal worker Friday in a Rock Hill community, police say.
The woman was delivering mail to a Level Street home when one of the resident's pit bulls ran out of the kennel and bit her on the ankle, according to a Rock Hill police report. One of the residents was cleaning the kennel at the time, and the kennel door was open.
The pit bull was on a 15-foot chain, but was able to reach the mailbox.
The worker said she kicked the kennel door to fend off the dog, the report states. It took several attempts to pull the dog from her ankle, the report states.
Officers could see significant tearing in the woman's ankle and foot from the dog attack, the report states. She was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.
The pit bull belongs to the resident's son, the report states. The son admitted he was "frustrated" with the animal's "aggressive tendencies."
York County Animal Control arrived and quarantined the dog.
