Man accused of steaing copper

from Rock Hill home

 --
Police have arrested a man accused of stealing copper from a Green Street home last month.
Dennis Edward Crome, 31, of Rock Hill has been charged with two counts of obtaining nonferous metals. He is currently in Moss Justice Center awaiting $12,000 bond.
On Oct. 28, a neighbor on Saluda Street heard a strange noise in the backyard of a Green Street home around noon, according to a Rock Hill police report. When he went outside, he saw a man later identified as Crome walking near the back of the residence where the AC units are located. The man pretended to urinate in the yard, and the neighbor asked him what he was doing. He then fled the scene.
Officers noticed one of the units had been damaged, the report states. The top had been ripped off, and some wiring had been cut. There were also several pieces of black styrofoam lying on the ground near it. The pieces are typically used to protect the copper wiring.
The metal inside the unit was also damaged and disconnected.
The damage was estimated to be around $700, the report states.

From the Newsroom

Kickstarting this blog and writing a 300 year history of Rock Hill really took up a large chunk of my weekend. I bookmarked this story from Friday's Herald and FORGOT ABOUT IT.
WTF IS WRONG WITH ME??? FOR SHAME!!!
how could I forget anything that has the words ' Family Dollar' in it?

Police: Man stole Rock Hill woman's car while on probation

 --
A 29-year-old Rock Hill man who told police he "needed to get to Family Dollar" was arrested after officers stopped him driving a stolen car, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
Maurice Terrell Walker of 206 Sidney Street is charged with grand larceny, Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn said. Walker is currently serving five years of probation for 2010 charges stemming from two burglaries committed five days apart in October 2010.
On Thursday morning, a woman flagged down an officer patrolling the area of Hagins Street and Sunset Drive to report a stolen car, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
The officer stopped the vehicle at a nearby intersection.
Walker, the driver and lone occupant, initially said the vehicle belonged to him, but then admitted it wasn't his, the report says.
While under arrest, Walker told police he was walking to Family Dollar on Saluda Street when he noticed an unlocked parked car in the road with the engine running.
Walker said he "really needed to get to Family Dollar," the report says.
The victim had started her car and was letting it warm up while she went back inside to get her child ready. She said she looked up and saw Walker get into her car and drive off.
Walker is being held at Moss Justice Center on a $10,000 bond.
The victim was cited with leaving her vehicle unattended.
In August, Walker pleaded guilty to the charges in a 16th Circuit general sessions court in York before Judge Lee Alford.

too, if it hadn't been for you
meddling kids!"
The charges include two second degree burglary charges, one of which was violent because he stole a pistol from the home, criminal conspiracy and grand larceny, said Teasa Weaver, assistant solicitor with York County's 16th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
He was released on probation and ordered to pay restitution of $2,400.
If Walker is found in violation of his probation as a result of this recent charge, he could be ordered to serve a prison sentence of up to five years, Weaver said
