A woman told police someone stole nearly $250 she planned to use for Christmas presents while she was shopping Tuesday in Rock Hill.
The woman was pushing a shopping cart at the Family Dollar on Cherry Road about 10:30 a.m. when she walked away to look at something, leaving her purse in the cart, according to a Rock Hill police report. A man who had been watching her in the store grabbed her purse and left the store, she said.
The purse was found in the parking lot of a nearby pawn shop, but $245 was missing, the report states. The woman planned to use that money to buy gifts for her children.
Police were not able to obtain a copy of the video footage, the report states.
